Ok so i was going to mention this in the ao3 comments but since youre active on tumblr i thought why not just come here!

So ive been re-reading rf again (for the 7th time... sorry) and im not sure if ive already mentioned this or if somebody else did but ive been thinking about kaeyas nickname for reader-dove, and the symbolism behind that because like- DOVE the animal representative of peace and love and FREEDOM, being placed on reader means so much. The story literally deals with the tension between inazuma and mond, reader being from inazuma and having such a great sincere love and sense of protection for mondstat is such a good character out of all to be named dove, especially from kaeya's perspective, he sees her as a symbol of genuineness compared to the other soldiers, someone who has risked their life for freedom when leaving inazuma, for peace when sacrificing themselves for ewald, and love for confessing to kaeya knowing she could have gotten in so much trouble. Reader is unapologetically so caring and delicate with everyone, a blanket of security that kaeya indulges in and lets his walls fall down around, his dove and flash of light in the grittiness of war. Im so sorry i could talk abt them for days😭😭 i love kaeya and reader and cant wait for their comeback, i hope you are doing well and thank you for such a well done fic, i know its not complete but ive read it so many times and genuinely it is better put together than about half of the books on my bookshelf😭 take care!

and ohmygod you made me fall in love with reader all over again. you're right, she's so sweet and genuine, which is what kaeya's character is attracted to the most, especially in the beginning of their relationship.

while writing them, i had to find a common ground for the two to connect. Kaeya seems like the type of character that needs deep and genuine connection for him to...obsess over someone enough that he will do batshit crazy stuff for them. reader's unapologetic perspective in freedom and chasing after what you want are quite contrasting to what we know of Kaeya's lore. he's used to hiding behind deception, despite the fact that he's very much driven by love. he suffered so much ever since his childhood, and reader's outlook in life is like a fresh air to him. but it's sort of unfamiliar to him that it feels scary. if you squint enough, he's not exactly the nicest to reader's feelings either. he doesn't know what to do with her lol he leads her on a lot then squash her feelings last minute

as for his nickname, dove, i didn't originally mean for it to stick. (i was in a Hawks (MHA) high and fanon Hawks uses "dove" a lot so i kind of wanted to implement it.) i did a research and found it to be perfect and now Raging Fires!Kaeya hasn't let go of this nickname since then. since Rin Minamoto isnt really reader's actual name, Kaeya had to use a more personal name for her, and that happened to be an endearment. i'm glad everyone is positively reacting to it too lol

the look of shock on your face didn't seem to surprise him. you begun trying to string words together into a coherent sentence when he follows up his previous statement.

"although... no one knows right now, we were keeping it secret to... avoid drawing unnecessary attention." the last part was spoken quickly and softly, making him sound unsure.

ted reached out to you to art direct his film

as you are checking your social media to keep up with your family, a direct message hits your inbox from someone named “ted.” you click on it and read, “hey (y/n)! I think we were in english 294 together and i heard from reese that you were working on films as an art director. are you interested on working on something together? i have this one script i’m trying to film in 3 months.” you smile at the message and shoot him back a quick message telling him you’re interested. as an art director, it was hard to find projects to work on, mostly getting scripts with little need for your craft and sitting on set for hours with only a book to keep you company. the next day, you meet up with ted to talk about his film, which was a heavy art department-involved project.

You hastily stand up, your legs threatening to give out due to the squat you were in while painting. “did my team eat yet?” you ask, holding on to one of his arms. “yeah, we’re just waiting on you.” he informs you. “oh my god i’m so sorry.” you tell ted as you’re about to run to the table were lunch is set up. he grabs ahold of your hand. “i just want to make sure you don’t overwork yourself; you’ve been doing an amazing job so far.” he smiles and compliments you. it wasn’t often you heard compliments from others outside of your department on set, so hearing ted’s words, the director's words, caused you to blush. you thanked him, got a sandwich from the table and sat with your team to eat lunch. 

if anyone is talking bad about you or your department, he tells them to knock it off

if you need help transporting props or set pieces you need, you know he's pulling up the truck and putting bigger pieces in the 2002 toyota tacoma, and anything smaller goes in the backseat

yeah, he’s the director, and the only person he should be talking to on set is his 1st assistant director, but if you look like you need help with something, he’ll give you a hand, and if he’s busy, he’ll send someone over who isn't

ted gives you the biggest hug at the end of filming and thanks you so much for all the effort you’ve put into his project

cherry was on the floor of her bathroom with the door locked, the envelope from the doctor’s office clutched in her hands. she wished marcia was there, marcia would know what to do. even though they had been fighting, she should have called and asked, she probably would have come.

something in her chest tightened as she thought about how she would have to tell marcia about the contents of the envelope in her hands.

she could feel the contents of her stomach churning uncomfortably with something that had nothing to do with her two month stomach bug. she shifted over to the toilet just in time for the bile to rush up as her back arched.

she staggered out of the bathroom after rinsing her mouth out and grabbing the phone on her nightstand, dialing chet’s house and praying chief baker was on duty and wouldn’t answer.

“hello?”

“chet, thank god…”

“cherry? what’s up? are you okay?”

she wanted to tell him what was happening, to say anything, but she suddenly realized she didn’t even have words. every word she had ever learned had abandoned her. nothing could put this into the right words.

chet seemed to notice after a few seconds, “do you need me to come over?”

she nodded, before realizing that he wouldn’t see it. she gasped out, “yeah…”

he waited a couple more seconds before asking, “do you want soda, too?”

“yeah,” she answered, her voice cracking.

“okay,” chet answered, and cherry could hear him beginning to shuffle around the room. “hang in there, baby, we’ll be right there.”

the line clicked on the other end, leaving cherry with only the eerie dial tone for comfort. she set the phone back down and curled in on herself on the bed, her hand over her stomach and her knees pulled into her chest. she felt the tears coming, and didn’t have it in herself to stop them, so they fell.

it took chet and soda a while, much longer than they would have liked, to get to her house, and when they finally pushed her window open, she had been crying for so long that her throat ached and her eyes had gone swollen and red.

neither of them said anything at first. soda laid down in front of her, making a face in a vague attempt to make her laugh, but all he earned was a small pull at the corner of her mouth. chet piled in behind her, brushing her hair out of her face.

“rough day, darlin?” soda asked, scooting closer to her and reaching down to pull the duvet up and over her.

she shrugged, “i got a ninety-seven on my math test.”

“that’s awesome, baby,” chet squeezed her quickly, pulling the covers up the rest of the way over her.

cherry just let out another strangled sob, her breath coming in shallow gasps. she couldn’t tell them, she couldn’t.

“what’s going on?” soda asked, his hands gently holding hers, kissing her knuckles sweetly.

“i…” she gasped, and that was all the sound that was able to come out. she pushed the covers off of her and sat up, slowly crawling off the bed and walking over to the bathroom, where she had set the envelope on the counter.

she looked over it one more time, a tear landing on a different test level result. she folded it back up and came back into her bedroom, handing the paper to chet and wrapping her arms around her legs as she sat down.

he read over it as soda crawled over and wrapped cherry up in his arms. chet looked up after a few seconds, his eyes soft and scared.

“this is real?” he asked quietly and cherry nodded.

“what’s going on?” soda asked, his brows furrowing.

cherry found her voice enough to mutter out, “i’m pregnant.”

the stillness that followed those words was so tense it was like breathing the wrong way would snap it. cherry felt like she would never take a breath again, she didn’t care, she didn’t deserve to.

“we’re gonna have a baby?” soda asked.

cherry took a deep, shuddering, breath, “i don’t know, but there’s definitely one in there…”

chet shifted over to them, tears welling in his eyes, “it might not be that easy, coca-cola.”

cherry gave a quivering sob, “i don’t know what to do…”

chet took her face in his hands, “you don’t have to, baby, we can talk about it later, but you don’t have to decide now.”

she looked over her shoulder at soda and blinked out a few tears, “you said you’d love to be a dad… when sandy…”

“but i love you. that’s enough for me,” soda smiled, his own eyes wet and glassy.

“c’mere, sweetheart,” chet pushed the covers back and ushered cherry back under them, crawling back in behind her with soda in front of her.

chet threw an arm over her waist and propped her head up underneath the pillow with his other. soda shuffled closer, gently kissing her forehead and wiping away one more stray tear, and resting their foreheads together for a moment.

“i don’t wanna sleep,” cherry whispered, her hands crowding around her face. “…i can’t.”

“that’s okay, honey,” chet rubbed his thumb in a circle on her hip.

“we can just lay here and stare at each other,” soda giggled, and a smile finally spread across cherry’s face.

realistic headcanon: until he's rehabilitated from his injury, and able to use his left hand properly again, he refuses to handwrite things unless he absolutely has to. I think he has really nice handwriting with his left hand, but he got really self conscious of using his right hand because it looked like a toddlers handwriting. He got better at it the more he practiced, but it was still never as nice or legible as the writing he'd do with his left hand. If for any reason he had to write something down, he'd ask Andrew to do it or he'd type it out if he could

heart-crushing and awful, but fun to inflict on friends: kevin is not actually that much of a strict asshole when it comes to his diet. it LOOKS like he is, but he avoids sweets because he has awful self control and will binge on snacks until he gets sick if he starts. everyone thinks he's particular about his diet because of the ravens and yeah its true in a way but he was deprived of sweet things for so long that he has to keep himself away from them. we all know hes a bit of a disordered eating king and he's not unhealthy about it necessarily, but he has to keep himself away from snacks. because he WILL eat an entire pint of ice cream in one sitting if he lets himself. and then regret it terribly afterwards

i’m obsessed with the potions. in order to die (which he doesn’t even *want*, or at least doesnt think he wants, he just believes it’s the safest option) he has to corrupt his friends’ attempt to help him. healing potions have been like. the only thing he’s conceded on for his own comfort. tango is super excited when he learns about them bc 1. it’s something actionable and immediate thatll directly help, and 2. grian gets noticeably… not hopeful, exactly, but definitely more responsive the few times that they’re talking about the potions. which. i’m sure tango will feel really good about after the fact (assuming the plan happens).

and then mumbo overextended himself making a *gold farm* entirely for potions and pearl “got carried away” collecting netherrack. it’s so clearly a priority for them. how are they going to react when grian hurts himself using them?? when they find out that they don’t do anything notable in the first place *except* give him a way to hurt himself?? after potions almost killed him the FIRST time??????? augh. i think about it so much

Man, the potions..... yeah the potions are crazy dude, i can see why everyone is obsessed with them. I havent exactly made a post on this yet, but healing potions don't actually do anything for a Watcher's structural code (theyre designed for Player surface code specifically, so they arent even fully compatible with Watcher surface code), which makes him conceding on them even more painful, because the others are latching onto this single one opportunity to help and its not even actually helping. Its being used, in fact, to eventually hurt him. Nobody is gonna like that.

that is SO valid lina math is honestly a good subject 🙂‍↕️ not my fav but i honestly enjoy the class cause it's 1) simple for me 2) my tablemates are so odd to the point of being hilarious and 3) my teacher is gay and we found his grindr profile so i always giggle when i think about that HAHDBDN so math class is just heaps of fun

ILY ILY ILY!! oh okay so us without me pt 2 is probably gonna be BAD BAD cause it will b talking about how he was actually in love w eden since BEFORE he had moved and all that so itll be extra angst talking about before he had moved 😸 basically timeskips briefly showing how he gives you less and less affection as the time he leaves draws near AHAHAH ITS GONNA BE BAD

so i dont have much to yap about at this moment but i just got back from school SOOOO ill yap about that!!

starting off strong i woke up an hour + 15 mins late and had 20 minutes to get ready and eat... i was almost late this morning BUT i have fitness first thing in the morning on my a-days (we work on an a/b schedule!!) and my teacher always comes late to that!! so i had time to dress down and i BOOKED IT to the weight room + made it!! in that class we basically just do weightlifting + my usual partner wasnt there bc she had a golf tournament... so i was with some of my other friends for lifting!! was kinda thriving bc my other partner usually does heavier weights + they did lighter ones SO I WAS REALLY REALLY FAST W MY SETS i was very proud!!

then i went into second period (i have bio) and we were doing a lab where we examined some cells in onions, tomatoes, + the inside of our cheeks (ew) but basically we had to group up and im not rly fond of one of the girls that r in my group cause she doesn't talk much she just squeezes in to look through the microscope so it annoys me 😞 ANYWAY THE LAB WAS LIGHT WORK GOT IT DONE IN 30 MINS and then i had like an hour of free time after that so i asked for a hall pass and i roamed the halls for a bit 😸 after that i have to go to advisory + i was just helping people w math hw and doing some of the nyt games to kill my boredom (oh and drivers ed stuff!!)

at lunch i was just sitting with some of my friends and playing imessage games with them 😭 then we went into the gym and played volleyball for a bit!!

after lunch i had geo and i was taking notes like a madman i fear... dk if ive said this before but like ohhh man everyone makes a point of telling me how small my hand writing is its so annoying 😭 i heard that three times during class today and i was literally done LIKE STOP LEAVE ME ALONE PLEASE ‼️

theeeen i had my speech + debate CLASS not to be confused with my club!! i already finished my oratory so i just played games the entire period 😻 lots of fun would recommend!!! i just hate the teacher cause he's always telling me to go back to my seat WHEN IM HELPING HIS STUDENTS CATCH UP ON WORK like ok! sorry for trying to help you fix the mistakes you made when teaching them how to make their speeches! goodness! my bad! anyway hes my opp 😒
